Kathmandu, October 31, 2026: Cricket fans may have to wait longer for today's Nepal Premier League (NPL) action as rainfall in Kathmandu threatens the scheduled double-header at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Rainfall has raised concerns about ground conditions, potentially affecting both matches scheduled for today.
Today's NPL Match Schedule
| Match | Fixture | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Match 7 | Lumbini Lions vs Chitwan Rhinos | 12:30 PM |
| Match 8 | Sudurpaschim Royals vs Biratnagar Kings | 5:00 PM |
Both matches are scheduled to take place at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Will Today's NPL Matches Be Played?
Rainfall has put today's fixtures at risk. However, weather conditions may improve during the afternoon. If the rain stops and the ground becomes suitable for play, officials may still conduct the matches with a delayed start or reduced number of overs.
Under standard T20 playing conditions, a minimum of five overs per side is generally required to produce a result in a shortened match.
What Happens If an NPL Match Is Abandoned?
If rain prevents a match from taking place and it is officially declared abandoned without a result, the usual consequences under league playing conditions are:
- Both teams receive one point each.
- The points are added to the NPL standings.
- The match is not automatically replayed.
- Both teams continue with their remaining scheduled fixtures.
A washout could have a significant impact on the points table and teams' qualification chances.
Will Fans Get Their Ticket Money Back?
According to reports, eSewa has indicated that spectators will receive refunds if a match is called off before the toss. Ticket holders should check official ticketing announcements for the applicable refund procedure and conditions.
What Should Fans Expect?
The weather remains a key factor for today's double-header. If conditions improve and ground staff can prepare the playing surface, fans could still witness full or shortened matches.
Supporters are advised to follow official NPL announcements before travelling to the stadium.
